Copper’s Hard Rocking Condotel

|March 3, 2006|Uncategorized|

According to a press release, Condotels are still the rage at many destination resorts and it looks like Copper Mountain will be the site of a new one.

The hotel would feature approximately 320 residences, a state-of-the-art spa, exterior hot tubs and a heated multi-level swimming pool with an outdoor bar. Owners and guests will experience a renowned signature restaurant, a lively apres ski bar in the heart of the hotel, a sophisticated nightlife offering and breathtaking mountain views.
I’m not much of a fan of the Hard Rock brand, they are tacky Tourist Traps in my book. Plus, I don’t see the connection with lodging. How does greasy food served in a loud, badly decorated mass-produced chain restaurant connect with the experience of snowboarding/skiing?.

p.s. Intrawest, what were you thinking? What’s next… a KFC branded active senior development? IDR is riding a 52 week high. Maybe it’s time to start shorting the stock?

As a former colleague on Wall Street used to say, “I’m initiating coverage with a Strong Short!”
