Why Did Sun Choose Colorado?

|September 15, 2006|Uncategorized|

I tell people that companies and people are moving to Colorado for high quality of life, low cost of business, and growth opportunities all the time. Better to hear it directly from the horse’s Sun’s mouth.

From Sun Microsystem’s website…

1) Why did Sun choose Colorado as a site for expansion?
Answer: Sun made the decision to expand in Colorado based on the educated work force, high quality of life, and pro-business climate and business potential. The expansion to Broomfield will also enable Sun to expand its coverage model to meet the demands of its fast growing customer base and to provide them with high quality customer service and technical support the customers have come to expect. Additionally, Sun is forward thinking – we are expanding outside of the Bay area to enable Sun to manage risk (i.e. earthquakes and other natural disasters), to remain competitively priced by locating facilities in an area where business costs are lower
2) What types of organizations will be at Sun Colorado?
Answer: Enterprise Services WorldWide Headquarters includes:

  • Sun Educational Services Headquarters
  • Support Services Headquarters

  • Quality
  • Technical Services
  • Product Marketing
  • Business Development
  • Logistics
  • Enterprise Services North American Field Operations Headquarters

  • Customer Care Center, Call Management Center, Contract Administration
  • Business Development & Operations
  • Global Accounts Service Delivery
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Sun’s Enterprise Network Services Group – Data and Resolution Center
  • Other engineering groups such as SunSoft and SMCC Mass storage
  • How much land does Sun have in Colorado? Via the company’s latest 10K SEC filing as quoted by Footnoted.org

“Sun owns 352 acres of undeveloped land in Colorado and Texas. That’s a significant increase from the 38 undeveloped acres in Austin, Tx. that the company reported in the K it filed a year earlier. Though the current K doesn’t mention a few key details, like where the bulk of that land is located, Sun already operates large facilities in Colorado between Denver and Boulder — 1.6 million square feet in Louisville and another 916,000 square-feet in Broomfield.”

We can highly recommend Sophie. Her attention to detail and communication skills are great. Our home was in area that most realtors are not familiar with, but Sophie took extra time to get to know the neighborhood in order to give us quality service. She also brought in a professional photographer to make our home look its best. Even though the listing was in winter, the house sold quickly. With Sophie’s business and people skills, we have no doubt she will be a top realtor in the area.

Osman was a refreshingly honest realtor. He stressed through the entire process that his goal was to make me happy with my home purchase. I greatly appreciated the fact that he never shied away from pointing out the negatives as well as the pluses of different places while leaving the final decision up to me.
