S’no Fun Anymore

A few years ago, I was talking to a woman from the Chamber about perceptions of Boulder. She said many people imagine winter in Colorado is something The Shining. I even wrote a short post of my own about it awhile back.

Well, today the reputation seems deserved. Another storm is moving in today, threatening to dump 1 to 2 more feet of powder. This is on top of last week’s “Blizzard of 2006.” Skiiers rejoice?

Here’s a blurb from the Camera:

“The storm will hit the area in two waves, with the first bringing 12 hours of heavy snow beginning around noon today, said Klaus Wolter, a researcher with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Diagnostic Center.

“This first batch of moisture should be good for at least a foot of snow from Boulder westward, with some favored spots approaching two feet of fairly fluffy snow by Friday morning,” he said.
The storm could pack wind gusts up to 45 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
A second wave of snow dropping in from the north later Friday could create a “backwash” effect and dump another foot by Saturday night, Wolter said.”

p.s. I’m taking surf lessons tomorrow.
