Water issues from Summit Daily News
Municipal planners in northern Colorado say the prospect of drought combined with a booming population (predicted to increase three-fold by 2050), leaves only one solution: more water storage, in the form of the Northern Integrated Supply Project. “This is not a case of ‘if you don’t build it, they won’t come,’ ” says Carl Brouwer, project manager. “Bottom line: More people equals the need for more water.”

Updated green building standards (Green Points) from The Daily Camera
The Boulder City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved an update to the city’s Green Points program, which has drawn praise from green builders, who say it shows Boulder is committed to environmentally friendly construction.

Denver tops the home price (Case-Shiller) index from The RMN
“It looks like Denver may be one of the first markets in the turnaround mode. Maybe,” said Maureen Maitland, an analyst and vice president at Standard & Poor’s

“Wait a minute — time out,” Trustee Glenn Massarotti said after hearing about the program a couple of weeks ago. “Why are we doing this?” He likens the policy to a form of “indentured servitude” for Erie residents.”Why are we making a private homeowner fiscally responsible for maintenance and repair of something they do not own or something they don’t have control over?” Massarotti asked. “Isn’t that what we have a public works budget for?”
