We’ve been tracking the Moorhead House since it first hit the market in January at $3.6M. It was designed by Boulder architect Watson Vernon and constructed for James Moorhead in 1902. Vernon also designed the Washington Street Elementary School, now part of Washington Village. Moorhead served as Postmaster of Boulder, County Clerk and Recorder, and Colorado Secretary of State.
From a location perspective, this is one of our favorite parts of Mapleton Hill. It’s far enough away from higher traffic and higher profile parts of Mapleton Hill and has a bit of a perch, overlooking the neighborhood below. The house itself features about five bedrooms, five baths, a two-car detached garage, and about 4,500 SQFT. Past owners did a terrific job of maintaining the historical integrity of the house while upgrading it with modern conveniences. For an example of historic details, check out the corner windows in the upper bedrooms. The Moorhead House sold for $100k below the last asking price.
